The Port of Tilbury is home to London’s only deep water purpose-built cruise facility, the London Cruise Terminal. Situated at the gateway to London – just 22 nautical miles downriver from Tower Bridge – the Terminal is in an ideal location close to the heart of the City.

Tilbury has become increasingly popular as a turnaround port for Baltic and Northern European destinations but it is also perfectly placed for transit calls to visit England’s capital city. The M25 is 7 miles away offering easy access for coach excursions to Central London (25 miles), historic Rochester (27 miles) and Leeds Castle (38 miles). For lovers of history and heritage, the Cruise Terminal building with its majestic baggage hall is a Grade II listed structure, opened by Ramsay MacDonald in 1930. Thurrock’s Tilbury Fort is a short stroll from the Cruise Terminal, providing a fine example of 17th century military engineering and the local Thurrock Museum also houses a fascinating collection of history, heritage and archaeology of the area.

The traditional English seaside towns of Southendon- Sea and the old town of Leigh-on-Sea, with its cobbled streets, traditional English pubs and active fleet of cockle boats, are a short journey by rail or taxi.

Further afield is the Royal Horticultural Society’s Hyde Hall Gardens, a beautiful eight acre site containing a woodland area, spring bulbs, a large rose garden and ornamental ponds. Nearby Lakeside Shopping Centre and Bluewater in Kent offer unrivalled shopping experiences, each with over 300 shops, numerous cafes, bars and restaurants – perfect for tourist passengers and ships’ crew alike.

London’s principal airports – Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and London City – are within an hour’s drive of the Terminal and Tilbury town station, on the C2C main line Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street line, is one mile away.

A single storey building on a flat level site, the dedicated Cruise Terminal has easy access for the disabled and contains a separate departure lounge with check-in and refreshment kiosk. Our friendly staff ensure the smooth movement of passen
