This weekend, Silversea Cruises’ Silver Spirit goes under the knife. I will be there to witness the event and to report it back to you.
At a shipyard in Palermo, on the sunny side of Sicily, Silver Spirit will be sliced in two, and a pre-built 49-foot-long midsection will be inserted to stretch the ship.
Why would Silversea do such a thing? Well, to enrich the onboard experience with a comprehensive redesign and massive refurbishment inspired by Silversea’s newest flagship, Silver Muse.
What will that new midsection on Silver Spirit add?
• 6 Silver Suites, 26 Veranda Suites, 2 Panorama Suites
• New technology and in-suite entertainment for all suites
• Enhanced fitness center with new outdoor aerobics area and free weights room
• Expanded pool deck
• Additional restaurant for a total of seven, with expanded bar and lounge areas
• New spa concept
The 608-passenger Silver Spirit was launched in 2009, one of the nine ultra-luxury, all-suite, butler-serviced ships of Silversea Cruises. See our updated Silver Spirit Review
