A New Travel Show: We Travel From Marseille To Istanbul In Search Of Ten Aspirational Ports

During the next six weeks, I’ll be traveling from Marseille to Istanbul (and points between) with Vancouver-based videographer Chris Stanley. We’re on the road to create a new travel show featuring ten “aspirational” ports. By aspirational, I mean that these ports are where you want to drop anchor — if you haven’t already.

Cruises frequent these ports spring through fall, and some ships even visit these ports year-round, so dropping anchor isn’t all that difficult.

More challenging is what to do when you get there. How do you make the most of your time ashore? How do you shift the potential of your visit from being mundane to being memorable? That’s where we come in.

Between now and mid-November, we will wield our cameras to bring to life ten fabulous ports of call: Marseille, Monte Carlo, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Naples, Livorno, Corfu, Katakolon, Dubrovnik and Barcelona.

Think about it: Combined, these destinations represent the best culture, art, history and lifestyle that Europe has to offer. Sip a glass of world-renown wine in charming Châteauneuf-du-Pape; marvel at the masterpieces in fabled Florence; walk along antiquity through ancient Ephesus; stroll Las Ramblas in busy Barcelona. If these aren’t some of your aspirations, they should be.

Please join us as we travel through Europe in search of some of the best experiences to be had in ten great cities. If you’re on Instagram, follow Avid Cruiser and the hashtag #10aspirationalports.

And as always, let us hear from you if there is something you’d like to know about the destinations we plan to visit — or if you have tips for activities and attractions that we should not miss.

À votre santé.
