Listen In: Crystal’s New President and COO talks about new concepts in cuisine on Crystal and the service culture that makes the luxury line so successful
In episode #4 of The Avid Cruiser Audio Podcasts, I interview Edie Rodriguez. Edie is the new president and COO of Crystal Cruises. I’ve known Edie for a number of years, including during her recent tenure at Azamara Club Cruises.
When this podcast airs in April, I’ll be on board Crystal Serenity, sailing from Southampton to Rome with Edie and other Crystal brass for a gala event recognizing the achievements of Crystal’s top travel producers. These folks sell a lot of Crystal cruises.
I got a taste of what was to come on my voyage during my interview with Edie at Cruise Shipping Miami in March. And “taste” is the appropriate word.
In our interview, Edie talked about new innovations in dining aboard Crystal. After hearing her enthuse about it, I can’t wait to dine at “Tastes,” a new dining venue on Crystal Serenity.
Tastes, Edie says, is a “global tapas cuisine” concept in a new space on Crystal Serenity’s Lido Deck (12), with al fresco dining and four “living walls,” including a vertical herb garden where chefs harvest various herbs for dishes. Tastes also features live olive trees. “Tastes is my newest favorite dining venue on land or at sea,” Edie says.
