Yesterday, Seabourn Quest anchored off the coast of Golfo Aranci in Sardinia, Italy. Captain Geir-Arne Thue-Nilson (with a name like that he has to be Norwegian, right?) took the opportunity to open Seabourn Quest’s marina, one of the unique features of Seabourn’s vessels.

Situated aft, the marina opens to the sea and extends a platform so that guests can enjoy watersports activities.
Yesterday, we straddled a banana boat/float to be zipped along for 15 minutes or so to lots of splashes and laughs. Others water-skiied or kayaked, and a few guests paddled boats, an activity not unlike cycling on the sea.

Today in Civitavecchia (the port for Rome), another marina activity, but of a completely different nature. Seabourn Quest will begin preparing the marina for zodiacs — in anticipation of the vessel’s upcoming season of Antarctic cruises. I’ll check out the progress this afternoon and report back.
