Yes, we know. Traveling to Vienna during the winter is crazy, right? Wrong. First, airfares are low when compared to high-season fares. Second, hotel rates are low. I stayed in the Ritz-Carlton Vienna and received three nights for the price of two, plus an 85 euro food and beverage credit, enough to enjoy the best Wiener Schnitzel in Vienna and the city’s best hot chocolate.
But I also enjoy bundling up and going for long walks, not having to stand in long lines to get into museums and attractions, being able to find a table at a cafe, and the snow. Winter may not be the most popular time to visit Vienna, but it is arguably the most romantic and for me, the most memorable.
