I’m looking forward with great anticipation to getting to Miami for my next cruise.

The adventure on Carnival Cruise Lines’ latest, is more than just a cruise; it’s going to be a great celebration as well.

Most cruise ships get christened by their godmother in a ceremony that happens before they officially start regular passenger itineraries. But Carnival Breeze took a different course. It was launched in the summer in Europe and Carnival waited for the christening festivities until it got to Miami because the godmother is a very special local celebrity.

Tracy Wilson Mourning is the wife of retired Miami Heat basketball star Alonzo Mourning and is a super star in her own right as a broadcast journalist and motivational speaker. She’s the leader of the Honey Shine Mentoring Program she founded a decade ato to “inspire young girls to shine as women” with workshops and a summer camp program.

Breeze’s christening festivities at the Port of Miami will be followed by a party on board as we sail off for an eight- night cruise to Nassau, St. Thomas, Tortola and Antigua. There will be shore excursions in each of the ports, but the focus of the cruise will be the new 3,600-passenger Fun Ship that’s the showcase of Carnival’s latest features that you’ll be seeing on other Carnival ships in the future.
