There’s not a whole lot to say about a veranda except that it’s nice to have one when you’re at sea. The Owner’s Suite features a 189-square foot veranda that can be reached from the living room or bedroom.
I enjoy the veranda by day, sometimes sunning (don’t tell my dermatologist) or positioning myself in the shade to enjoy the warmth of the sun and the sounds of the sea.
I can be forgiving of accommodations that don’t have verandas, but it really is rewarding to have one, not only for the floor-to-ceiling glass that frames some of the world’s most beautiful places but also for the access from your living room or bedroom to take one step outdoors to enjoy the sea air.
At night, after dinner especially, it’s nice to stand leaning against the veranda railing (careful, though) to admire starry nights or the moon glimmering over the sea as it washes past the ship. This is one of my favorite moments. You’ll rarely see a sky more free of light pollution, which make the stars particularly bright and sparkly against that vast dark canvas. To experience that and more, you pretty much need a veranda.
If you’re contemplating whether to book a suite with a veranda or without (such as the Vista Suites), choose the veranda if at all possible.
With the Owner’s Suite, you don’t need to decide. It’s there waiting for you.
