A Cruise Across Sweden

My daughter and I traveled across Sweden this week, by ship. It has been wonderful traveling with the baby girl that I welcomed into the world 17 years ago. Britton has grown into a mature, respectful, funny and — she would want me to write this, stylish — teen. She’s a great traveling companion, and a wonderful daughter.

Our trip started in Stockholm last Friday, when she arrived on her birthday from the United States. We spent five days in Stockholm at three hotels, all reviewed here on Avid Cruiser, Nobis, Rival and Radisson Blu Strand.

We’re in Gothenburg today, increasingly popular as a cruise destination. We’ll explore the city, and I’ll be writing about that during the next few days.

For now, though, I’d like to direct you to a few concluding thoughts about our cruise across Sweden on the Gota Canal. See Gota Canal Cruising: Arriving In Gothenburg Having Crossed Sweden.

In Social Circles

Our social hostess, Carrie Finley-Bajak, gives us a lesson in Cruise Lines On Pinterest, the newest social site for sharing photos, so be sure to check it out. Carrie (aka @cruisebuzz) also names the cruise line winners from Travel + Leisure Social Media in Travel + Tourism? Awards.

And she has a few words of praise for Crystal Cruises’ Storyteller app as well as updates on Crystal Symphony’s makeover.

Also be sure to check out what she considers to be the top Youtube cruise videos this week.

Wallace Immen writes about a cruise along the idyllic Moselle River on the new Scenic Crystal.

Speaking of Crystal, Geoff Edwards is still at sea, a long cruise to be sure, on Crystal Serenity. Check out Sibling Serenity Canal Day 13.

From The Deck Chair’s Aaron Saunders can’t seem to shake his Silver Explorer cruise. See Silver Explorer in Galway City, from Another Angle.

There’s a lot more on Avid Cruiser, and our sister sites, River Cruise Advisor, Stockholm Cruise Blog and others. Just click and cruise.
