It was 24F when I woke up this morning in Asheville, North Carolina. Yes, there are colder places in the Northern Hemisphere, but waking up to 24 made me glad that today I am boarding a Delta Airlines flight for Sydney, Australia.
It is quite an effort to get to Sydney from the East Coast of the United States. I left Asheville today (Wednesday) at 2:45 p.m. and will arrive in Sydney at 8:30 a.m. — Friday!
Of course, crossing the dateline artificially extends the timeline. My actual flying time: about 20 hours ‘up in the air.’
I’ll let you know how the flight was. Luckily, I was able to use my Delta systemwide upgrades to clinch a flatbed seat on the way over. Whew!
Meantime, I’ve listed the ports Silver Shadow will be visiting on a pair of voyages that ends February 23. If you know anything about these ports or have suggestions as to what I should do, please let me know. I’ll be posting here on the Avid Cruiser website, as well as on Avid Cruiser’s Facebook page.
The forecast shows that Sydney will be bathed in sunlight and 75F when I arrive on Friday. Can’t wait!
