Azamara Journey Under The French Flag In Sensational & Small Sanary-Sur-Mer

Light breezes stir warm emotions in Sanary-sur-Mer, France.

We spent yesterday morning in Sanary-sur-Mer, France. The town is as beautiful as Saint-Tropez, but with fishing boats instead of yachts, and fishermen instead of multimillionaires.

We ran into an old friend, Claudius Docekal, who has the pleasurable job of finding new destinations and itineraries for Azamara Club Cruises, pictured with Delphine Beudin, who heads up the Var Provence Cruise Club, responsible for promoting cruise tourism in the region.

Some of the friendliest people we've ever met in a local market. We certainly felt welcomed — and you will too.

An excellent guide to the area is Catherine D’Antuono ( tour.designer@provence-travel.com ).  We used her when we visited Toulon on the Azamara Journey at the beginning of December 2009, and had a wonderful tour of Aix-en-Provence and the calanques in Cassis, a tour combination that could not have been accomplished with Azamara’s offerings.   Her  knowledge of history and art was outstanding, and she is without doubt one of the finest guides I have ever had.    Her website is  http://www.provence-travel.com/
