Fred. Olsen Offers Ex-UK Caribbean Christmas Getaway

While many of us would prefer not to think about the Christmas season, the fact remains that many cruise lines are starting to unleash some great cruises – and deals – for the upcoming holiday season.

Once again this year, the Caribbean takes up its reigning position as one of the hottest holiday destinations across North America, but Fred. Olsen Cruises has got the perfect antidote for European and UK-cruisers looking to escape winter’s grasp: a fantastic, 25-night Caribbean Christmas voyage that departs roundtrip from Southampton, England.

Leaving this classic English port city aboard the venerable Black Watch on December 17, 2011, guests will enjoy a leisurely transatlantic crossing, celebrating Christmas Day in the middle of the Atlantic.

Christmas celebrations onboard offer all the festivities of the holiday season, complete with a traditional feast, carol singing, holiday entertainment and traditional décor throughout the ship. Young cruisers have no need to worry; Santa Claus will be onboard the Black Watch too, taking part in this special day (after all, even he deserves a break!)

Apart from the holiday festivities, there’s certainly no shortage of ways to spend your day onboard; guests can take part in as many scheduled activities as they want, or are free to curl up with a good book and enjoy the serenity of the crossing, a true vacation in and of itself.

Of course, the Black Watch is also equipped with Wi-Fi hotspots for those who wish to keep in touch with loved ones back home while they are on their holiday adventure.

Three days after Christmas, Black Watch begins her Caribbean adventure as she arrives in the spectacularly beautiful port of Bridgetown, Barbados. Afterward, she whisks her fortunate guests to the popular, sun-splashed islands of St. Lucia, Antigua, Tortola and St. Maarten. On the return trip across the Atlantic, passengers will also be able to step ashore in the Azores; the perfect way to cap off their Caribbean experience before arriving back in Southampton on January 11, 2012.

The Caribbean without the painful transatlantic flight – now that sounds like a holiday to us!
