Part II:Touring The ‘New Egypt’ At The Temple of Karnak On A Silversea Shore Excursion, originally uploaded by Ralph Grizzle.
Following lunch at the Sheraton Hotel in Luxor, Silversea guests proceeded to the Temple of Karnak or a 90-minute tour. Built, enlarged and adorned over a period of nearly 1,500 years, the Temple of Karnak was the most important sanctuary of the cult that worshipped the sun god, Ra-Amun.

A wide walkway flanked by ram-headed sphinxes leads the Great Court, the largest area in the Karnak complex, with 134 super-sized columns.
The Temple of Karnak was one of three Egyptian historic sites offered on Silversea’s complimentary shore excursion from Safaga, Egypt. For a Flickr slideshow of our Temple of Karnak tour click here.
