Stacy and Greg Lill operate the only winery in the world to rank in the top 100 in Robb Report, Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. And Wind Surf is the only cruise ship in the world where you can meet the Woodinville, Washington, couple.
Stacy and Greg shared samples of their fine wines to a packed room on Wind Surf yesterday. In addition to learning a lot about the hard work that goes into making the world’s best hand-crafted wines, I learned something much more practical for clumsy me: how to clean a white shirt when red wine is accidentally splattered on it. Immediately, douse it with white wine. That’s Greg’s advice, and apparently it works. I’m sure I’ll have the opportunity to test this newly acquired knowledge soon.
Delille Cellars uses only the finest Washington grapes and ages its wines in 100 percent new French Oak barrels. When someone from the audience asked Greg what the difference was between French and American oaks, he replied, “About $750.”
Fine wines and dining by candlelight are a big part of the experience on what authorities have called the “world’s most romantic” cruise line. And Windstar frequently brings on leading experts like Greg and Stacy to enhance an experience that is “180 Degrees from the Ordinary.”
