This past weekend, far from Stockholm, in the city of London, on the River Thames, a British icon from the 1960s dawdled down a set of stairs and pulled herself up in front of a podium on the world’s newest cruise ship.

The ship was Seabourn Sojourn, and the British icon was none other than the skinny model known as Twiggy. So how do these two tie in with Stockholm? Well, Seabourn Sojourn, the ultra-luxury, oh-so-special, pamper-me, spoil-me ship is coming to Stockholm this summer. Actually, so as not to offend anyone in the Seabourn ranks, Sojourn is called not a ship but a yacht, although it’s a yacht that carries 450 people.

That Seabourn’s newest ship visits Stockholm not once but five times this summer is quite a statement, and if it weren’t for the Swedes’ characteristic shyness, I’m sure that upon receipt of the news of Seabourn’s scheduled visits, you’d hear some Stockholmer proclaim, “Damn, we’re good!” In fact, you are good Stockholm. Nothing beats the experience you offer in the city or during the transit of the world’s loveliest archipelago.

If you’re sitting far from Stockholm reading this post and the idea of visiting Sweden’s capital appeals to you, then you might consider sailing Seabourn’s Sojourn. She visits Stockholm five times this summer, with Sojourn’s first call on June 29. If you need a little inspiration to sail Sojourn, check out the two videos below. The first is from the christening event this past weekend in London.

The second video features Sojourn’s sister, Seabourn Odyssey, on a cruise that I was lucky enough to experience last year in the Mediterranean.

I have been lucky enough to be at the naming ceremony on a couple of ships so far but my luck never stretches as far as making it on one of these ultra luxury ships. I am going to have to do it the hard way and save up the pennies for that. The naming ceremonies are always very special and it feels great to be a part of those. I think this video captures some of that – thank you! And what a perfect lady to be godmother to such a wonderful, elegant ship
