Forget pizza parties and ping pong tournaments, Crystal is raising the bar on teen activities with cool new stuff to do this summer, from sushi making classes — the Junior Activities Directors teach teens the techniques practiced by Nobu-trained chefs in the ships’ Silk Road and The Sushi Bar — to group dance lessons taught by the ships’ onboard dance professionals and dance parties hosted by the ships’ DJ. Teens can also take a golf lesson with the PGA pro instructors onboard or attend the ships’ Berlitz language classes.
And it’s not just teens who are catered to. In response to an increase in family and multigenerational travel aboard its pair of elegant ships, the 922-passenger Crystal Symphony and 1,070-passenger Crystal Serenity, the hours and scope of the supervised kids programming during the summer months has been expanded for all kids ages 3 to 17.
Destination-oriented activities range from a Swedish lesson en route to Stockholm to Olympic-style competitions sailing from Athens. Each ship has a cheerful play room and a teen centre with PlayStations, arcade machines and computers. Extras include free ice cream bars and there is babysitting available upon request.
Crystal’s “Family Memories” program offers even more perks when a family group books at least six full-fare guests, including $100 per person shipboard credits, pre-paid tips, “Private Adventure” shore excursion credits, and free group photo (book 10 full-fare guests and also get a free berth).
