Costa Deliziosa Cruise Review

Costa Deliziosa.

Costa Deliziosa. Waiting for North Americans desiring full European immersion.

Though Costa Deliziosa begins her life in the Med, Costa’s new ship underscores the company’s commitment to take travelers to the safe regions in the Middle East.

Beginning in February 2010, Deliziosa will launch a series of seven-night cruises from Dubai to countries in the United Arab Emirates, before returning to Europe for a summer series of Fjords & Baltic Capitals sailings from Copenhagen.

With Deliziosa, Costa hopes to broaden its strategy to attract North Americans who the company feels will be better served cruising a “European brand” in Europe. Perhaps.

“We visit the Caribbean and own Europe,” Costa President and CEO Maurice Zarmati tells Cruise Week, a subscription-only publication. “The other cruise lines visit Europe and own the Caribbean.”

My own observation after cruising Deliziosa is that Europhiles could indeed get more of Europe by cruising Costa. For more on that point of view, read Costa Deliziosa Cruise Review: Sunglasses & Short Skirts, A Full Italian Immersion.
