When I first heard that we were visiting Cotignac and its famous caves, I had no idea of what to expect. Troglodytes? What the heck?
Our guides took us to visit the place where prehistoric cave-dwellers once lived. Getting up to the caves was quite an adventure. We were literally scaling the face of a dried up waterfall. I didn’t count the number of steps we climbed but we were certainly gaining elevation.
If you want to do a unique tour when you’re in the south of France, this is it. It’s not often you get to ascend a dried-up waterfall where prehistoric people lived, all within a few steps from pretty little village of Cotignac.
