This morning's half-day tour showed us the highlights of Casablanca and the Grand Mosque.

This week and next, I am crossing the Atlantic on Silver Cloud. Before heading across, however, Silver Cloud stops in Morocco and the Canary Islands. Our port of call this morning: Casablanca.

Nope. It's not the original Rick's Cafe in the book "Everyone Comes To Rick's" and made famous in the Hollywood hit "Casablanca." In fact, the blockbuster was filmed in its entirety at a Warner Brothers studio in California. "Play it again, Sam" is a misquotation by the way. The actual line by Ingrid Bergman was, "Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake."

Hassan II Mosque, the world's third largest, features a retractable roof and the world's tallest minaret.

Our guide and his capable assistant.

The Hassan II Mosque can accommodate 25,000 worshippers.

The mosque was designed by the French architect Michel Pinseau.

We stopped briefly for some shopping.

Afterward, we visited the colorful Central Market.

Life is pretty relaxed for the fishmongers at Casablanca's Central Market.
