Stockholm near midnight

Stockholm, where the sun hardly sets during summer.

The more that I visit Stockholm, the more that I come to love this beautiful Scandinavian capital. This week, while here filming “The Avid Cruiser’s Two Perfect Days Stockholm,” was no exception.

We were fortunate with the weather, and the long summer days, when the sun barely hides, made for sleepless nights. Sure, you could pull the curtains and darken the room here at the Hilton Slussen, but who wants to close their eyes with a view like the one in the photo above, taken at 11 p.m.?

My room, number 2034, and in fact, many of the rooms at the hotel face beautiful Gamla Stan. It’s one of 14 islands that make up this Greta Garbo gorgeous city (the film star was born here in 1905).

If you haven’t visited Stockholm, you really should put it on your bucket list. And there’s plenty of opportunity before or after a Baltic cruise that begins or ends here. I encourage you to explore the Swedish capital, right now, in fact, by clicking on our Stockholm Cruise Blog.

It’s near midnight here, but I’m not saying good night. I can sleep tomorrow on the train back to Helsingborg and the south of Sweden.
