With The Real Housewives On Costa Delizioso.
2010 was an event-filled year for the ever-so-grateful-for-his-career Avid Cruiser. Here are some of the travel highlights with links to relevant photos, videos and posts:
- February. Flew to Italy – twice. Once was to cruise on Costa Delizioso, which I thought sounded like an Olive Garden entree. On that cruise, from Venice to Genoa, I appeared in a taping (that aired this past summer) of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Also in February, I returned to Italy to preview Oceania Marina, now on its way to South Florida, from Genoa. Touring Oceania Marina, I suddenly wished I were Frank del Rio.
- April. visited Vietnam and Cambodia with my 15-year-old daughter on a Mekong River cruise on AMAWATERWAYS. The experience was so rich and so different from anything I had done before that I set up a mini-site called, http://www.cruisingthemekong.com
- May, Became a Jack Sparrow wannabe on Star Flyer, sailing fro Cannes to Rome
- June. Cruised on the small luxury ship, Silver Wind, from Barcelona to Rome Definitely one of my favorite ships, because of her size and onboard ambience. Participated in a fun Market Visit & Cooking Class In Sete, France. Also in June, flew to London for the naming of Seabourn Sojourn by Twiggy. Like Scarlett O’Hara At Tara, Twiggy Elegantly Descends Stairs To Name Seabourn Sojourn. Toured northern Finland and Sweden to produce video. New Ports Of Call: Aspiring Cruise Destinations In Sweden’s North Have Much To Offer & Three New Cruise Destinations In Finland Roll Out The Welcome Mat. Also cruised the British Isles on Crystal Symphony.
- July. Visited Venice for the christening of Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam by Princess Maxima of the Netherlands Live From Venice: Nieuw Amsterdam Naming Ceremony Cruised Silver Whisper, from Stockholm to Copenhagen, with a land tour to Moscow. Visited the stunningly beautiful Faroes, Iceland and Greenland.
- August. Cruised Celebrity Solstice on a special Food Network Cruise. Yum! Traveled to Turku, Finland for shipyard visit of World’s Largest Cruise Ship, Allure of the Seas Video Walkthrough From The STX Shipyard In Turku Finland
- September. Tour of cruise destinations in Norway to explore shore excursions opportunities for cruise passengers. Then shortly afterward, boarded Seabourn Sojourn to cruise from Copenhagen to Amsterdam by way of Norway. Among the best of Norway’s visits: Alesund, Bergen, Eidfjord, Flam, Geirangerfjord, Gudvangen, Molde, Olden-Nordfjord, Skjolden-Sognefjord and Stavanger.
- October. Turned 53 years old. Traveled to Southampton for naming of Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth (spoke to Ben Kingsley, who nodded in return, and had An Unintentional Encounter With Her Majesty The Queen ) Visited Venice, Italy, for a film project. - November. Flew to Papenburg, Germany for float out of new Disney Dream, which debuts later this month. Met the adorable Samantha Brown and said something corny: “I’m big and I am a fan. That makes me a big fan.” She giggled. She’s so bubbly. Video: Disney Cruise Line Floats Out Disney Dream. Thanksgiving with the kids on Allure of the Seas.
- December. Cruised Silver Spirit from Barbados to Fort Lauderdale, then flew to Copenhagen with my daughter and along with my very significant, traveled to Germany for a Christmas market river cruise on AMAWATERWAYS.
