With still some time to kill before Silver Cloud’s departure from Stockholm, I visited the Historic Museum, where I made and ate Viking Bread. Many misconceptions about the Vikings. For starters, they did not wear helmets with horns. Rather they drank from horns. Excellent exhibition here about the Vikings, with more than 4,000 artifacts. Another major attraction at the Historic Museum: the Gold Room, with a 1500-year-old gold collar made in such an intricate way that modern-day goldsmiths still can’t figure out how it was done. The Historic Museum is within walking distance of the Vasa Museum, another Stockholm must-see and the city’s most-visited museum.
